ParticipantHi All,
My problem is a little more peculiar than the usual ones where the machine won’t drain or spin. During a normal programme, when the cycle reaches rinse/drain/spin, it just stops and eventually the ‘End’ light starts flashing.
I have gone through all the troubleshooting steps and confirmed that:
– filter is clean
– drainage pipe is clear
– motor spinsI did all of these by draining the machine, running water through the outlet pipe (clearing lots of gunk in the process) and running the machine empty with 1-to-2 litres of water in the drum and on a ‘Drain’ cycle while leaving the filter cap off and observing the motor spinning.
I am finding that with clothes in the machine, it simply won’t drain or spin. Each time I drain the machine and then run water through the outlet pipe, I see water coming out of the filter – there is no blockage there. Then, when I add water to the machine and run the ‘Drain’ programme, it drains! Moreover, I can then also run the ‘Spin’ programme and that will miraculously start working too!
I’m pretty sure if I try and run the normal programme again, it will stop again.
Any guidance on what’s going on would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Does it work OK just using a rinse and spin cycle (without a load)?

I didnt try running anything other than the Drain and Spin programmes (without load) after flushing the outlet pipe as mentioned earlier.
I’m wondering whether the control board may be faulty.

Board faulty? Nah!
Try that rinse and spin.

Thanks for the quick reply. What will it indicate if it runs empty?

I have another update…
I did as Martin suggested and ran the machine empty on the rinse cycle. It worked like a dream – filled, rinsed, spun. Now, I just need help getting it to do something similar but this time wth clothes in it! Any suggestions?

Thanks for testing that out. Now you need to check the heating element as the symptoms suggest it is not heating and hence the programme times out!

Like with any electrical component, power disconnected, access heater terminals then test with a multimeter.
When giving advice we assume a degree of electrical knowledge toward those that seek help. If you are in any way uncertain as to how to proceed do ask a local independent repairer to fix it. We can give guidance only not step by step instructions.
