ParticipantThis machine had me stumped…
Basically the fault description was that the drum did not turn and it has continuous drain out.
Meggered the machine, the reading came up as 3mohms, I thought it was the brushes which I replaced. I got suspicious when I pulled out the original brushes that it was halfway down, I replaced it and cleaned it out with compressed air as my comm stick broke. Refitted the motor, meggered again which gave a reading of 9mohm and plugged it in then turned the machine on at spin with a view to re-megger it which often the case that the readings goes up after rebedding the brushes after spin. Sadly the reading remained at 9 as it didn’t spin long enough.
The machine gave a reading of 475mohm with the motor disconnected.
Anyway, I selected the spin cycle which the pump starts for a minute then the drum turned but didn’t spin then the display light went out and the pump continued. I selected the wash program to see if there’s more to it, it fills with water then after or around one minute the display light went out and the pump came on.
I checked the heater which it is working.
I will be returning on Monday to clean the motor with the comm stick as the one I have broke. I am doing this in the vain hope that the comm stick will do the trick but I have a gut feeling that it’s not gonna make a difference.
What do you think could be the problem?

Check the PCB for burnt out solder joints to the motor.

Thanks Jem, sadly the owner decided to plump for a new washing machine. I shall never find out what’s wrong with it.
Typical as I have just picked up a brand new comm stick this morning then got a message asking for a new washing machine instead of repair.
