ParticipantI have a customer in the market to buy a new washing machine. She tells me that currently she has a Bosch 2004 which she has problems with powder staining i.e. the clothes come out with powder stains after the wash has completed the cycle. She has done all the right things, contacted the powder companies, had the Bosch agents out etc. but still cant solve the problem. She is now at the end of her tether and has decided to plump for new. Has anyone got any advice on a good buy. Preferably a reputable machine that has a good rinsing capacity and even perhaps an extra rinse option. All comments greatly received.

Surely she’s gotta be over doseing or overloading or even a combination of the 2 – In which case a replacement machine isn’t gonna solve the problem !? – Just my 2 cents

Im sure you are right, but you know what customers are like, when they’ve made their minds up that it’s the machines fault, how do you convince them otherwise. We’ve all heard it before: “I’ve been washing for 30 years, don,t you think I know how to wash by now”. (The customer is always right as they say).

What about the potential problem of selling her a new washing machine only to have her on the phone a few weeks later when the new one does exactly the same?

Hi Andy! Don’t worry Ive covered all the bases on that score. Ive warned her that a new machine is not neccesarily going to cure the problem. I’ve given her the advice about how much powder to use, How much washing to put in etc, etc, etc. She is just convinced that she is ready for a new machine. I even tried to get her to buy a machine elsewhere(odd I know, but I was thinking the same as you, is this one going to come back and bite me???) But she’s an old customer and refuses to go anywhere else. She was even a customer of my dad’s before me( Who incidently Andy, I think you worked with for a while at “ERIC WILDS” Authorised Hoover Dealer. My dads name was Des Stuart. Some while ago now!!

It sounds like you’ve covered all bases so it is now your duty to supply her with a new washing machine 😉

Wow. I remember Des very well, he was a very nice bloke. It was a long time ago as you say. I am probably older now than Des was when we worked together – I was about 19 or 20. How is he these days? I hope your use of the phrase, ” my dads name was ” isn’t significant.

Unfortunately so!!! We lost Dad a couple of years ago to the dreaded “C”. And your right, he was a very nice bloke, but very nice of you to say so!!. Fortunately he set up a good little business which I have now been running for approx 15 years, my brother now works with me aswell. Fingers in all sorts of pies, as you have to these days to survive. I was lucky enough to work with Dad for 8 years or so, so got a good grounding. Good to hear from you Andy. I can be contacted at info@stuartdomestics.co.uk
I’ve checked out your website before actually. Great site. Very helpful
Keep in touch.
