Bosch washing machine seal

My Bosch washing machine is 3 months old and I came down this morning to find the seal is broken and has covered the washing with fine grey powder. I have been told that when the engineer comes to replace it he will know if I damamged it or if it was faulty. Can anyone please tell me how I will know. Thanks.

To be honest, on such a new machine of any kind, that sort of damage is almost certainly caused by something getting caught between the edge of the drum and the seal.

Can be caused serious overloading, objects left in pockets, large zips etc. Very rarely a fault on the machine when it is this new.

Just to add, if it does turn out to be like what Jim said, then there is a good chance Bosch may charge you 😯 just be aware of that but Im sure you have had the blurb 🙂
