ParticipantHello UK white goods, my washing machine a Bosch WIS24140GB/14 has the following flashing lights on it, the start /pause led is flashing as well as the 800 rpm spin speed led and under the programme flow column the spin and end leds are both flashing, I’ve read articles on the forum and other people appear to have had the 400 rpm speed indicator flashing but my 800 rpm is flashing which from what I’ve read so far doesn’t appear yet on problems encountered by other members. I’ve done what I consider are the usual stuff e.g checked the drain pump is free and clean and rotates, water inlet filter cleaned (it was clear)looked at the sump bowl to see if it was wet – it was ok and dry, unplugged and left overnight to dry out and hopefully reset the fault code.
As it doesn’t spin I’m currently thinking of looking at the motor brushes as my next thing to check. Any help or advice gratefully received.September 6, 2014 at 1:08 pm #418701DaveKilt

I’ve fixed it now, the problem was the motor brushes, took off the belt, undid the 2 hexagonal screws that secure the motor, released one plastic press through lug that clamped the wiring to the motor to the motor housing, pressed two plastic retainers on the wiring connector and took that off, the motor can then be withdrawn completely from the machine, brushes took out and taken down to my local spares place, this is crucial apparently as the connectors where the spade connectors join can be different sizes so always take at least one of the brushes with you (it cost me about £14), commutator and brush recepicals cleaned with IPA.
Put it all back together and it works fine, I had it from new e.g 2008 so its done 6 years (to 2014) on the original brushes. -
