ParticipantHi. Is there a Bosch expert that can help me please.
I have a WET2820GB/13 with no motor action. The motor has continuity through the armature and the field windings. However pins 1,2 and 3 on the connector block are open circuit.
I cannot appear to get any tacho continuity
Questions:
How is the motor wired internally?
What does one get in an end cap? BSH096805 (tacho or just brush ring)
Is there an over-temp cut out built into the end cap that can be replaced?
Or do I need a new motor? bsh140867 😥Thanks in anticipation of a sensible priced outcome for this customer

The new End Frame/Brush Ring is now 496876 and literally has just the new type 154740 carbons. The old one however did have a built-in TOC and that could be your problem as likely as not it’s open circuit?
The 3 wires to the tacho sensor are open circuit by the way! 😉

Hello Martin.
How does the tacho work if it is open circuit? I assumed it is a coil as in any other motor.
I do get continuity from the terminals to the armature. And from the field terminals and centre tapping. How is the TOC wired?

Pins 6-7 on motor should have some resistence IIRC 23 Ohms pin 8 is the ref off tacho AFAIR 🙂

Hi Bob
The TOC is in series with the armature but I asked the same question about the tacho a couple of years back and no-one gave me the answer.
My guess would be the brushes are on their very last piece of carbon dust giving you continuity with your meter but only splitting the motor will reveal all. When you get the end-cap off all will be revealed.

Greg, thanks for the email.
Looking at the wiring diagram, I am begining to wonder if it’s the control to the motor at fault.
I can see the brushes through the end cap and it would appear that there is plenty of life left in them. The appliance is low usage and only 2 and a half years old.
Be interested to know how the tacho works without a coil…
