ParticipantI have a Bosch WF02865GB Washing machine. It is not spinning it will wash but when it trys to spin it starts then stops. I have replaced the motor brushes and the comutator looks ok. does anyone know if there is a test mode or reset sequance for this machine any ideas would be appreciated.

There’s no reset procedure applicable to this machine, Gazza. There are two possibilities as to what is going on here, unfortunately, neither of them are cheap options.
1) The electronics are damaged. If the motor brushes were worn down to the very end, the final few loads will require the motor to draw excessive amounts of current to try and run it – the backload on the circuitry can damage the computer board.
2) Under the same circumstances, the motors armature can cook due to the excess heat generated. This will result in it idling over for wash, but failing to get past the ramp into the spin sequence. It may try to accelerate repeatedly, but will cut out.
The computer board is c. £120, the motor £160.
Under the circumstances (if you wish to keep the machine going) an engineers visit may be your most cost effective solution.

Luk that is the only problem with the Bosch,Neff,Siemens appliances.
They are very good quality but if they go wrong then the parts are quite expensive
As Chris rightly pointed out that the motor cost around £160.Then you are looking at the labour charges.
Best if you can get a second hand motor(if you can find that is).Regards

I have exactly the same problem. It first occurred a few years ago, but after poking about a bit, it disappeared. It has now recurred, and I am looking into it again. I suspect is is more likely a sensor than the motor itself, e.g. is the water level switch malfunctioning? The instruction manual says it has a cut-out if that prevents it going to high spin with an unbalanced load. Could this have triggered and then stuck? Did you ever get a solution to the problem for your machine>

ParticipantThe out of balance system on these are practically infalliable as they’re part of the motor. What probs are you having ? No or intermittent spinning probs ?
Is it the same model as the OP ? If it is , first port of call would be the moto brushes……especially if it has started to sound a bit ‘Sparky’scrapy’ on the higher speed spins.

Thanks for the reply, nomadPaul. It is a Bosch WF02865GB, exactly the same as the original post. At present, no spinning at all. I tested the water level switch with a meter, and took the back off to have a look. Nothing obvious wrong, but I have just set it up to do a 40 deg wash, with the back cover still off, and there is noticable arcing from the motor brushes. I will certainly replace these if there is any chance it will solve the problem. How does the spin get shut down? Is the controller looking at motor currents and detecting unsteady currents as it spins up as an indicator of unbalanced load?
