The washing machine sounds as if it is about to spin during a wash cycle. Then goes on with the wash. I have checked the pump and outlet hose and they are clear. It now shows the pre wash light and does not complete the wash.

Several possibilities here, pump worn out and sticking, water level sensor blocked, motor needs attention. No big deal overall but I would advise seeking professional help in the form of a local engineer to call in and sort it for you 😉
