    Hi tvr1,

The black dust is brush residue from the motor, it is very common in all older appliances, and it gets everywhere 😀

The failing to rinse/spin sounds like an external drainage fault, the appliance cannot drain the water away in the time it should, the appliance will stop rather than spin with water still to drain.

If you are connected to a spigot under the sink, disconnect, blank off the spigot, put the hose into your sink, then get the appliance to drain, if it drains & continues happily to the finish you have a blockage somewhere within your pipework.

If thats the case, best contact someone through this site who is local to you & who are all reputable, basically they wont rip you off 😉

    Cheers

hi thanks for that i have it in pieces at the moment and have found scale in the plastic tank at the back to the side of the solonoids and i have cleaned this out there was quite a bit of muck in there im i right in thinking that if this slows the pumping out to any degree it will time out and give the problems i have
