ParticipantI have a Bosch WFF2000 washing machine, about 10 years old. In the last few weeks when spinning it has sounded rough but has managed to finish the washes. However today I am getting the flashing ‘PreWash’ light, it flashes four times then pauses before flashing four times again.
I have emptied the water out and cleaned the filter but no change. However I have noticed there is lateral play in the pump (situated behind the filter at the bottom left front) so assume this means the pump has gone.
If I replace the pump is it also a good idea to replace the motor brushes at the same time and is this the meaning of the ‘four flash’ error? Unfortunately we moved house 18 months ago and I cannot find where the wife packed the manual so no way to see if this is a specific error.
So is there anything else that should really be changed at this point as well?
My big question for anyone who can help would be – is it worth paying for the spare parts/engineer considering the age of the machine or should I give up with this one and bite the bullet for a new machine?
All responses, advice and help greatly appreciated as the wife has a pile of washing waiting for a working machine!
Thanks – Charente

Have you noticed the machine struggling to empty on spin and is the “rough” noise there before the drum starts turning?

I have not noticed a problem with the machine emptying on spin, but now it will not spin at all. Re the noise, this is present (though not all the time) when the machine is simply turning the drum during a cycle of washing or rinsing and was particularly noticeable when it was still spinning.

I expect the brushes will be worn out or just about to wear out after 10 yrs(crackling noise). Available from the Shop@. Unplug Power if you are going to have a look yourself Or Repairs@ for an engineer.
