ParticipantHi,
I have the Bosch WFF2001 washing machine, and it’s just stopped doing it’s thing as follows:
When starting a cycle, the water seems to go into the machine and then there’s some minor clicking sounds from the electrics which I think is normal and then nothing. the drum doesn’t turn or anything. It will drain etc. if I put it on the drain cycle.
Don’t know about spinning, not sure how to spin only?
Any idea what the problem might be? Or any further tests I can do to try and narrow the problem down?
Thanks in advance.

UPDATE – doesn’t seem to spin either.
This machine could be around 10 years old.
Is it time to upgrade?
I’ve replaced the brushes about a year ago!
Also I have a hotpoint WD440 in a cupboard relatively new and not had much use. Should i chuck the Bosch and use the Hotpoint instead (I have a separate drier though. ❓

Participantnnnnnnnnnnnooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
its probably the brushes in the motor
that bosch will last 10yrs longer than the hotpoint, even at the age it is now

Thanks for the brushes suggestion.
But I had the machine several years and only replaced the brushes last year (purchased from this site) – surely the brushes couldn’t have gone already?
I suppose I’ll have to have the motor out and have a look! 🙁

Ok ok.
Guess what. I took out the motor. Took out the brushes and they were about 1/2 inch long. One was a little bigger than the other by about a millimetre.
Anyhow, I put the brushes back in, because I thought that 1/2 inch was okay for now (is it?) and loo and behold the machine is working again!
What’s that all about then?
Do I need more brushes?
I’ve had this machine about ten years and then about a year and a half ago I had to replace the brushes for the first time ever. Now only a short while later can they have worn down already?
Maybe the replacement brushes that I got from this site don’t last as long as the oiriginal Bosch ones???

Participantthe armature could be a little worn
try a new set of brushes, but try cleanig the armature with a suitable comm stick
