I recently came unstuck when ordering a pattern pump for a Bosch. It was a bayonet fitting but a different design of bayonet to the original. I had to order the gen pump complete with filter housing for megga bucks. Ironically, the pattern pump would have fitted the replacement filter housing, as it was the same bayonet arrangement.

Mark,
Think it through – £5 on the gen, £15-£20 on the pattern – customer still pays less, you make more, customer happy, you happy and in three years time you can bob round and stick a £4 standard Askoll stack in and everybody will still be happy.You know it makes sense…….

Here you go 😉
Gen – 141326 = Qualtex PMP222 – Maddocks 51-BS-08 or 51-BS-14

There’s a lot to be said about fitting genuine Bosch parts, good quality and very reliable are but two virtues for doing just that. But when it comes to fitting their pumps at least, I will give my customers no option. Then will fit a pattern equivalent every time at only half the cost but possibly even ‘better’ quality, with 12months guarantee and I will make around £19.40* profit on each pump sold. My customer stands to loose nothing at all, quite the contrary. That pump will last every bit as long as the genuine, possibly longer AND will be cheaper to repair in years to come ‘cos it will only require fitting an ASKOLL pump motor to it at under a fiver!!! :tup:
The point here is that on a 5 plus year old Bosch/Siemens machine (whatever) many if not all customers are weighing up the cost of replacing (say in this case) the pump at £57.58 plus fitting (£30 to £60 in most cases)…so therefore to reduce the equation by at least 33{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} gives you a chance of doing the job AND more importantly keeping the machine running ’til next time it breaks down and they come back for further help and advice 😉
Your choice?

* Genuine 141326 = £57.58 retail (incl. VAT)

I always thought the pumps were very overpriced. Fitting a new pump can come to a third of the price of the cheaper models. 🙁
