Have just been to this machine, pump is to use the technical jargon “cream crackered”. Ringing my usual supplier I could not believe the price quoted for a gen pump,, around £45/£50, trade !!!

Is this about right, if so I cannot see me doing much Bosch work, in this financially deprived area of the country 🙁

Why do people wash filthy, dirty, muddy trainers without first removing all the loose dirt, the inside of the pump filter was like a cement mixer, enough sand and aggregate to wreck any machine. 👿

How come you have to “Phone” to enquire about spare parts supplies anyway??? You’d be best to set-up a few accounts with all the big boys in the trade I would suggest, to be fully informed and up to date on stock holdings/prices etc etc 😉

Used them for over 10 years, almost personal friends, As I work from home they have my garage key and delivered 3 days a week until recently. I even used to play squash with one of their drivers when he was staying with relatives in this area. A good relationship that I see no reason to change at the moment. I do get bombarded with mailshots, from SEME et al, but every time I mention others prices to my friends, they usually match them.

Will bear your suggestions in mind. you never know what is round the corner.

DS Supplies from Stoke, for many years they had a unit in Oldham, very near to me that traded as Shippers. Unfortunately the local council raised the rents so high that they retrenched back to Stoke many years ago. Certain occurences lately make me think that they may be having difficulties and I am not sentimental enough to allow others problems to impact on my business, so I am monitoring the situation. I do most of my ordering online with them, only phoning for the occasional rarely used part. Often whilst still in ( or near 😉 ) the customers house. That way I can give them a reasonable idea of the cost of the job.

SEME have that pump 51-BS-08 at £4:75 plus vat in stock.

I would get a couple because it`s great price.

By online I meant whilst sat at my PC.

They don’t have a site as far as I know, only a small concern. I think they use a version of the Qualtex, Gmax software. It used to link into their main PC, but it now compiles the order and sends it via fax.

51 BS 14 Martin – under a tenner and it’ll take a standard Askoll when the motor packs in 😆 . And you get to listen to the dulcet mellifluous tones of Peggy.

Missed out on speaking to Peggy there Chris as I ordered 10 ‘On-line’ but thanks for the info and the £150 saving against Parts Center prices 😀

(I do find Maddocks website a bit of a trial but at those prices it’s worth the agro 8) )

Am I mug still insisting on Gen Bosch parts? Making a measly £5 or so on a £45 pump?
