DENO
ParticipantBosch WFF2001 WASHING MACHINE , (now 6+ yrs old and 1st ever problem). UNTIL 2 DAYS AGO NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS TO DATE
Problem SUDDENLY developed .
When the Machine is switched on ,it goes off almost immediately within a couple of seconds. I can hear a sound of I believe , a relay latch goes off. (This takes place within about 2 secs). The MAINS Indicator LED comes on briefly during the couple of secs’ this happens. The sound comes from the direction of the relay at the back of the machine where the electric cable comes in.If I manually HOLD IN the On/Off switch all the various function button lights will activate correctly as individual selction buttons’ are made. The outlet drain is clear. I have also checked the front outlet impeller area having drained water via the black drain hose adjacent to this impeller; appears to be clear.
Any ideas what it could be?
Holding in the On/Off switch in I can clear the program setting as normal with the “X” setting. If I select the Pump position still holding the ON/Off switch in some activity happens (but I don’t hold the On/Off switch in for more than 10 secs’)Any ideas what this might be?

On/off switch itself may be failing……….?

If the On/Off is failing and I HOLD IN the switch manually longer than 10 secs is it likely to cause any further problems.
I would like to try if the Machine fills with water or the spin cycle if this is possible, or do I have to replace the switch first before going ahead?
Thanks Penguin 45

You could try wedging it as a temporary measure – rarely satisfactory as any interruption throws the computer.
Switch is p/no 171021, about £17 from memory – an email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk for prices and ordering.
Power off when you go inside, please.

Thanks Penquin45 and Jim : Can’t quite figure out how the ON/OFF switch comes out; I can see 4 corner lugs but it won’t release, unless I am overlooking something else !!

On/off switch needs to accessed from inside the machine.
Of course, before digging make sure the machine is unplugged first.

I think there’s a locking tab at the top.

Penguin45. :
Looking at the new switch just received I can see that there are 4 lugs and the release tab mentioned above.
DISCONNECT FROM THE MAINS FOR SAFETY FIRST
From inside the machine the there is a Plastic locking TAB in the centre at the top of the Switch which needs to released towards the back of the machine ❗ and lift the whole switch upwards about about 10mm and pull out. The New Switch fitting is a reversal of this and you should hear a click when the Release tab has locked into place. Now One happy Owner; 😀 Also discovered the machine is older than I thought. First fault since purchase in March 1998. So pretty good service so far.
Many Thanks to The Penquin and Jim for your help.
