I noticed a very small puddle under the machine. Looked more closely and it looks like I have a small amount of water weeping from under the control panel. My guess is that it is coming from the washing powder tray, though I don’t see any cracks or anything. Could it be a gasket or something? Looking at the side – I see some rust. Also inside between the control panel and the tray, I see some rust too. Pictures below.

Yes, I know it is an old machine – but other than a few DIY repairs (with the thanks of the kind folks here), has been very reliable.

Inside behind buttons – that rust appears to be the area behind the bottom of the buttons.

Make sure you clean the top of the detergent tray (where water drop down into the tray) as on Bosch machines, they can get blocked and perhaps water squirts at a weird angle (dental floss picks are great for that job). Also clean the detergent tray itself. It comes off, and so does the syphon device on it. If that’s blocked you might be getting some overflow. My guess is there is also a crack somewhere, maybe not in the detergent tray itself, but in the detergent tray housing, or a gap between the top and bottom part. Also check there is no leaks from the hoses to the dispenser tray from the inlet valves.

I’ll have a look thanks. I see that the housing is still available as a spare too if I need to replace.
