ParticipantIt started making a terrible noise when spinning so I removed a bra wire that was stuck in the impeller. The impeller turns ok by hand. Now the pump is making a low buzzing noise but nothing is working. It seems to fill with water ok if I start a cycle but if I turn it to ‘spin’ or to ‘rinse’ it just buzzes. Has the pump burnt out? If so is it easy to repair and how much would it be? 🙁

u sure theres nothing else in there?
if its buzzing, its either something jammed in the impellor, or the pumps damaged
unplug ifyour gonna have a poke around

well after i took the wire out of the front compartment, i checked to see if the impeller would still spin, it does but it has the motion of a prop plane, as in it doesnt spin freely, it goes easy then hard then easy etc!!.

That is exactly how it should feel. My dad used to make model aeroplanes in the fifties and the ‘feel’ of this type of pump is just like the little petrol engines he used. If the pump impellor has a lot of side to side movement then it is more than likely time to change it.

If you would post up the full eNr number from the inside of the door, we will be able to identify the pump required.

To test the pump runs OK simply select spin only with the pump cover removed. A few seconds after pressing the start button you can observe the pump impellor spinning merrily? If not, it’s either jammed or needs replacing?

Problem solved! The pump is fine because the impeller is turning. The funny noise is because there is no water in the pump. Once the machine was allowed to fill with water it all sounded normal again. Thanks for everyones help. Great service! 🙂
