My washing machine, although working fine and not making any nasty noises, has developed a “up & down” play in the outer drum.

Machine does 1 wash a day approx and is not overleaded.

Are bearings known to die on this model, and if so, is it tub removal & split in two job?

While I’m here, anything else prone to go wrong with this model since it seems a bit of a “cheapy” in Bosch’s range.

Any advice / experience gratefully received!

    Hya Rob
Yes it is a split tank, but isnt for the faint hearted. Its not the easiest of split tanks. Personally I would seek an engineer for this one.
As for the other points raised, they are a pretty good machines and rarely give problems.
    How old is it anyway??

    Hi
Thats not bad for 7 years really. Wouldnt get that sort of durability from the run of the mill junk we see about today.
I think they are good value for money compared to most IMO.

The guy I bought it from said it was “hardly used” thanks to him moving out and storing the machine due a a divorce, so I was hoping to get a few more years out of it yet!

The bearings could go faulty prematurely, if the machine was installed incorrectly. 🙁

That drum is normally pretty reliable!

If all four feet aren’t firm on a solid floor, making the machine level, then the all the stress during the final spin, won’t be exerted in the right places.

Whenever I’ve seen premature bearing failure on a plastic tub Bosch, that’s been the common factor.

Blimey! NO al feet are on the ground!! Just hope it doesn’t get worse very quickly! Should there be a little bit of play at all?

    Nope 🙁

Maybe the guy you bought it off, used it more than he said?
