Bosch WFL2450 – drum won’t turn

Dear Forum,

I have a Bosch Max WFL2450, approx 6 years old. All fine till this morning; now the drum won’t turn (on any programme).

It does fill and drain happily, just not turn. The controller board “clicks” when it’s trying to turn on the motor, so I think it’s the motor not the board. I’ve had a look at the motor, and there’s no obvious electrical issue (i.e. not charred or missing connections). From what I’ve read, the brushes could have worn out; how can I tell whether this is true, or where else the fault might be?

You will need to use a test meter to check for continuity across the armature. If you have no reading, you’ll need a pair of these:

Wow, that was quick!

Where should I take the reading? I’m not sure which of the 6 or so orange cables in the connector block connects to the armature, and I’m not sure how to take the motor off/apart.

Are there any service manuals or similar that would show me?

If you are unsure, of where to measure from then I would just remove the brushes and inspect, they are approx 1.5 inch in length when new. If they are much lower than that then follow P45s guide to spares 😉
Unplug appliance if you are to investigate :plug:
