ParticipantOriginal reported fault was clothes sopping wet, no spin, making clicking sound.
Tested machine on spin and got no motor action.Changed brushes (old ones just over half way down) and got motor action, albeit with noisy brushes. Masterpart pattern part.
Now when the machine starts to ramp into spin, the cold valve activates, at first pulses then as the spin gets up lets water in pretty constantly.
Not sure now whether this is the noisy brushes causing some corruption of the spin programme or the board is faulty and this was the original fault manifesting itself when the motor is turning again.
Anyone had this before. Going back with s/h board and gen brushes and will report back.TC

Electrical noise from the armature. Once they start, I doubt gen carbons will stop it. Had this a few times.

Did you ever cure this fault?
I have the same model showing the same symptoms whereby the cold water valve is opened when ramping up to spin. Was it the motor in the end?Cheers

Motor’s are pretty easy to check out with an insulation tester. What readings do you get from it anyway?

Exactly, and the motor is testing ok and the whole machine is meggering ok. But i don’t understand why the cold valve is being triggered. I am suspecting that something is happening to the motor though and it is sending spurious signals to the PCB which is making it act odd or the PCB is duff of course. I changed the carbs using Bosch ones, which are a bit noisy, and tested the motor but didn’t have time for any more so I will be returning to it tomorrow to do a more thorough assessment
Never seen these particular symptoms before in any other Bosch or other make. My gut feeling though is its the motor.January 4, 2013 at 9:28 pm #291414Martin

I would tend to agree as it should not be noisy after the brushes are replaced. That suggests the com is knackered anyway. Also the PCB’s on these are susceptible to the fuzzy logic circuit failure due to the motor drawing too much current. A final thought to the valve being triggered is carbon dust build-up on the PCB?
