Strange fault description and to make it worse, customer says it only happens 1 wash in 4 or 5. 🙁

Sets to wash, after a while the display has counted down to 1 minute but the indicator light is still showing on wash.

If she sets it to spin she can drain it out but sometimes if she then sets it to rinse and spin she says it fills right up the door.

Pressure switch appears to be operating correctly, hose and pressure chamber clear, pump, and all hoses inc eco ball clear of any obstructions.

The real problem is that as it is so intermittent the chances of me actually seeing it happen are remote.

Anyone have any ideas what could be afoot?

    TIA.

I can only guess it’s likely a pressure s/w related problem…? Not come across this fault myself though.

I’d be checking the heating element too for high resistance or low insulation. A failing Ntc can also cause some odd faults .

Still struggling with this beast. 🙁

Took along a new pressure switch, meggered heater which was fine but did notice a tiny hole in door seal, thought maybe water dripping onto heater could be upsetting the thing.

Changed pressure switch and door seal, ran on test and left.

Customer rings back to say it is still doing the same thing so I arrange to call back this afternoon, making sure that she had set the machine on before I got there.

She said that on four washes yesterday the timer counted down to 22 minutes, the progress light was on wash and from there it continues to count down but just washes right to the end and stops on 1 minute.

As I arrived ( my timing is always immaculate 😀 ) the display was on 23 minutes, it got to 22 and then the progress light switched to rinse and the darned thing completed the rinse & spin perfectly. 😕

For some reason she washes everything on either 30° or 40° delicates cycle with ‘Time Saver’ selected, she was totally unaware that this was only giving the load 2 rinses and spinning at 800rpm, ” the knob is set to 1400 ” says she. :rolls:

One thing I did notice, as the machine progressed through the rinse cycles it filled to just below the door glass but if it is set to a dedicated rinse and spin only programme it fills a few inches up the door glass, is this correct?

Not the first time this has come up recently. http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/forumsphpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=67580

Re: Bosch WFO285SGB/08 1 minute in display?

The strange thing is it only fills to a higher level on the rinse & spin only programme and it cuts off at the exact same level a couple of inches up the door every time, yet all of the rinses during the full wash programme fill below the level of the door glass.

I just wondered if the rinse only cycle is programmed to fill to a higher level?

I would suggest a pm to tash to get more details on where he’s at with his. Seems to me the two faults are one and the same.

Or try the rinse cycle on my next call to a similar Bosch machine, got one on Monday. 8)

    Good idea.
I like to take along some of my own washing (just work trousers, that kind of thing) to reduce wear on my own machine. 😆

As previously mentioned the NTC is the most likely issue.
The fact that there was a hole in the door seal makes it even more likely to be the NTC. Sometimes its more obvious when you can see a bit of green on the NTC’s connector.

The rinse level is fine. The rinse on its own is always higher. Why? Probably programmed that way to help with hand washed items you want to rinse & spin.

I suspected that the higher rinse was a ‘feature’ just like the spin during the tumble drying cycle or the fast wash speeds on some Hotpoint machines. If you don’t know about them it always throws you at first.

TBH the NTC and the heater terminals looked perfect on this machine. I will try a new NTC if all else fails, thankfully she is a patient soul. 8)

She is going to give it another try without the timer saver set, watch this space. 😀

Re: Bosch WFO285SGB/08 1 minute in display?

my customer decided to go for a new machine , the abort was because it could get the excess water away in time , the fault developed to it would fill to the correct level then the valve would keep switching on and off every 2 seconds until level was way too high , originally it would just overfill continuously ,power off would stop fill straight away..
