Going to look at this later and the customer reports that it made a noise and then stopped.
Now the LCD has two upside-down A’s on either side of the display.
Turning it off, unplugging it has apparently made no difference.
Every time he turns it on it just has two upside down A’s?????

It’s a new one on me.

    Anyone?

New one on me too! The model number odd too! Close inspection of the main board required I reckon.

Had a look this eve and the display does indeed show two upside down A’s with a gap between them (or two 8s with their tops missing i suppose) and it would do nothing.
Took the board out and the bottom of three relays had the solder and part of two legs blown and a number of different tracks on it were disintegrated/missing/blown spreading from the corner where the relay is across to the middle if the board.
Even if he was mad enough to want to buy a new board (€200+) I don’t think I’d risk putting it in as I’m not sure what could have done this and I’d hate to fry a new one!
Guess what, he’s buying a new machine!
