ParticipantJust moved to Australia – this WM was working well in the UK – no signs of beig dropped or anything.
Installed it in our niew house in Australia – did an empty load first up to check for leaks/function etc… All lookd good.
When my wife went to do the first load – with the normal measure of powder – the washing machine turned into a suds generator – chock a block full – took 2 rinses to get rid of all the suds.
Repeated the dose with half the load and 1/2 the amount of suds – noticed that the water level was non existent.
Checked for a blockages and the operation of the pressure switch – all looks clear.
Did a load with no clothes – and the water level is only just visable at the bottom of the drum – pumped this out to a bucket – 6 litres. This was with the “Higher Water Level” switch depressed.
How much water should the machine be filing with on a main wash?
Pulled the pressure switch apart and increase the turns on the span adjustment for switch 1 – now i have 8 litres of water and the function is much better.
Interested in your thoughts.
Thanks 😕

My initial thought is that you have bu&&ered up a perfectly good pre-set Pressure Switch 🙁
6 litres is the normal (intentional) water level. The Drum Paddles act as scoops to shower the clothes as well as distribute them around the drum. Your only problem prior to your twiddling was that too much powder (or the wrong type) was put in the wash in the first place! 😯
I therefore recommend you purchase a new replacement Pressure switch, stick the lid back on and away it should go, good as new 😀

Thanks for your reply
I am a “world class” twiddler – the good news is that i know exactly what number of turns I have added to the span on switch 1 and 2 – so can “put it back” as it was.
We lived in Surrey where i thought the water was soft (ish) – but now live south of perth – I think your diagnosis might be right – too much (or the same as we used to use) powder. Have rectified this – washer working well.
By the way – is there a site that would have told me how much water the washer used (uses) – and what about a wiring diagram – or is that not for public domain?
Thanks 😳

The Bosch site doesn’t really give much info on water consumption in this regard, I know it is very little as you have found out 😉 Incidentally when you run the machine without clothes it only fills to a low level anyway. As soon as a load is applied, that very sensitive Pressure switch gets to work adding extra water (through displacement) and also through motor loading, it gauges how much extra it needs as it fills and turns….very clever stuff! That’s why I was more than a little concerned that you “twiddled” with this seemingly innocence device and could have stuffed it in so doing?
Wiring diagrams???….No chance in hell, not even to us in the trade…SORRY! 🙁
