ParticipantHelp please…
Have a Bosch wfp3300gb01 which after many years of fault free service stops in a wash cycle with the E05 error. After searching all advice seemed to point to the brushes / motor, but the machine runs normally on a light spin cycle, and will start a wash cycle.
So after much searching ordered a set of brushes, just like the ones off the bosch site for the machine, the ones with the clip/connector and the spring over the brushes tail. So far so good.Get the motor out of the machine – ha, have to separate the motor as the electrical end doesn’t allow access to get to the brushes etc and this is where the ‘fun’ starts. After removing the end casting, the brushes are on the others side of the revealed brush holder/contacts frame, ok remove this – noting there are separate silicone rubber ‘insulators’ between the brass/metal brush holders and the end casing.
One brush has warn to 1/3 the length of the other one and is not a full commutator radius – looks like the commutator segments on ~1/4 of the circumference have suffered some erosion, not really bad but perhaps up to a 1/10 of a segment, also one of the brush holder’s is a bit discoloured – heat, compared to the other?
The existing brushes tails are welded 1) to the brass brush holder and then 2) to a contact in the plastic brush/contacts assembly!Back to searching the web to see what might be going on…
One thing to note that the original brushed have the tail attached to one side of the rear of the brush and not centrally like all/most of the identified brushes for the washer, also the full brush holder / motor end casting is frequent shown with what looks like an motor mounting spigot – unlike the one I have hmm… How many motors were fitted to this machine?.
After inspecting my motor for part numbers and much searching the only useful number I find is 3047613AC2 – which from the web, mainly german sites looks like the right one, no mounting spigots on the electrical ends casing.
Anyway it’s Friday afternoon – no other parts available so, snip off existing brush tails at the first weld point on the brush holder – snip off clips on new brushes, and fit and solder the brushes / new tails to the connector spot on the brsh carrier assembly…
So far so good – only to fing the new brahers are about 2mm too long for the spring retainers to be behind the brushes ! Grrr.Out with the commutator tape and some wet and dry – bed the brushes down until they shorter and the springs can get behind the brushes.
Give the commutator a good clean and reassemble, thinking few – best this is all worth it…Quick check on spin cycle and all is working 🙂 lets try out a wash…. Arrgh part way through E05, missus is now not impressed as I’ve taken over the kitchen all day 🙁
Machine spins ok – but gives E05 on washing – guess may be a problem when motors in reverse or some such.
Anyway –
1) whats going on with the motors & brushes, there seem to be at least 2 types – one common and published then other all but secret? Then the crux of the matter,
2) is the machine a gonner – given its some 13 years old ( only light use 2 – 3 washes if that a week) motor (and if so which model part number) is it worth keeping or better to replace it –
3) IF replacing but then what with – I’ve read many stories on the newer machines being too clever for themselves – too many ‘clever’ (dumb depending on your point of view?) wash types – not spinning well etc. All we ever really want and need is cotton washes, synthetics, full / small load, and light heavy washes, with the odd special care / outdoor garments type wash cycles, control over the wash temperature, and a start delay occasionally gets used.
PLease help!

Ordinarily you need to replace the whole brush end housing (part no: 00496875) But many guys in the trade fit just the carbons with the copper tails and solder them on.
