ParticipantHi folks.
One here for the experts out there…….
The fault is that on switching the machine to a programme the background of the display lights up but no infomation is displayed. If the machine is left in this state for about about half an hour the display comes on and the customer is then able to use as normal.
I suspect the control board, but this machine seems to have a more complex interlock than the norm.
Anyone got any ideas?.
Many Thanks in anticipation,
Regards,

I’d say more likely a faulty Display Module and easy to replace. But first check the ribbon connection into the main board as it may just be loose or slightly corroded and needs cleaning and pushing back in firmly. 😉

Hi.
I dont understand the last post but…
I have got this job booked for friday. Thinking about the problem, I am not sure that I made the fault completely clear in my 1st post.
The display “sort of” illuminates but does not dislay any info, and if you “start” the machine nothing happens. If you leave the machine in limbo for half an hour the display comes on , you can hit the start button and use the machine as normal. If it was a problem with the display board, would you not be immediately able to use the machine, but for lack of a display, not know exactly what it was doing?.Comments Welcome ,
Thanks in anticipation,
Mike

Well as I mentioned earlier Mike, the display and its ribbon feeder are pretty easy to check out. The 30 minute delay scenario could indeed be more serious and mean the main module at fault?
The “Bereit” reference by Simon refers to some instances where the Display module defaults into German (Bereit = Ready) which it doesn’t in your case. 😉
The module itself may have been exposed to dampness and a quick blast with a hairdryer may be a solution? 😕
I had a similar model (same module) last week that was installed under a drainer board. Water had got into the module between the front fascia and the metal frame and onto the small connector blocks (brown wires) along the top of the module. In this instant the module was stuffed though 🙁

my display on my own WFR2860 started off blank then flickered when module warmed with hairdryer. Main module it ended up being. Not saying yours will be the same though.

Hi,
Didnt get a chance to take a second look at this as customer had decided to replace as the machine packed up completely so it would not even work after the half hour. Just as well ,it probably was the module stuffed.
Bit of a shame though, it was a nice looking machine. Thanks for all your help,
Regards,
Mike.
