ParticipantHi folks.
My Bosch WFT 2800 GB/13 has stopped tumble drying! The drum still rotates and the drying program appears to continue, but there’s no heat and no fan noise. I’ve taken the top off of the machine and reset the trip with the red button on the side of the tumble dryer heater element, but it tripped again within an hour or so.
What are the possible causes for the trip? Could it be as simple as something is blocked or needs cleaning, or is it likely to be the fan starting to fail? If the heater element fails, would the trip be tripped (!), or would the fan continue to blow cold air?
All help appreciated.
Thanks,
Glenn

Fan motor failure – either electrical or bearings – will cause the safety to trip due to lack of airflow. That’s the place to investigate.
Will need the rest of the model number to advise replacement part number – there is an early and late version.
Power off if investigating.

Hi
I would be looking for a jammed or blown fan motor.
As Penguin sais there are other variants in that range but all use same dryer blower motor 😉
Fan Motor – 140595 around the £90 mark.An email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk should do the trick.
Also after replacing that, it would be a good idea to remove and clean the air channel assembly.Un plug appliance before attempting any further repairs :plug:

Thanks guys, though don’t quite follow those last two posts!
I don’t suppose there’s any kind of re-build kit for the motor is there? Or am I just getting too squeaky…
Thanks,
Glenn
Complete model number is WFT2800GB/13 791100316.

First, establish whether or not there is a circuit through the motor. If there is, you’re in with a chance. If not, you’ll have to replace it. If there is, you can (theoretically) fit new bearings and get it spinning again. The bearings are not “number series”, so presenting the remains at your local bearing stckist is the only way forward. Depends how brave you are, really….
Stay safe, pull the plug.

UPDATE
Took the motor and fan out and it span like a charm. On closer inspection though, the concave side of each blade was levelled off with 7 years’ deposits of fine fluff. I removed the fan blades and spent a good hour cleaning them back to full sparkling, re-assembled and everything’s been fine since!
(let’s hope I’ve not just tempted fate)
Thanks for all your help guys.

Having the same issues with mine ..
However I’m new to the washing machine repair game
can you advise where the fan motor is?
Also the water dosen’t seem to be heating up ? is there a heat exchange or something that might be blown?
as everytinh else seems to be working OK. When the actual fault occured it tripped the mains, so was concerned it may be more than a motor nnot working 😯January 31, 2007 at 9:31 am #189991Martin
