ParticipantReplaced the motor end frame on the above on wednesday as the brushes were totally worn out, all appeared to be ok but had a call today saying its not spinning at full speed. I checked the new brushes were bedded in and all conections were tight. This would be one of the few jobs I go to out of my normal area and thats the reason why They always turn out to be aggro. I am calling back tomorrow, Would any one have any ideas what the fault could be

I did put the motor on spin on and off the machine but may not have left it long enough to get to the final full speed. Will check brushes and belt tension as I think it one of the Bosch motors that needs a load applied to ramp up to full pelt.

Did you fit the correct part to it Goose? It should be the 8 terminal 496876 Motor End Frame. It’s possible you may have fitted a 6 terminal frame that looks and works OK but with no fast spin?
Just a thought. 🙂

Turned out I had reversed the field coil, I have done this before but got no motor action so that’s what confused me. Glad I ordered an end frame as as when I got home the boss reported no spin on our old Bosch and I was down to my last set of brushes and as we are off on holiday tomorrow she would not have been impressed.

goose, are these teh models where you have to replace the collar with a collar that has a cartridge brush system which allows you to use the std slide in bosch carbons?
only asking cos had a customer bring in one of those (tactical ?) “one-shot” motors because he couldnt see how to replace the carbons on it.
anyway, ordered the collar he was back few hours later cos motor didnt turn and wanted a refund, just wondered now you mentioned that if thats what hes done…
oh and came up for the best comeback to “its my right to a refund within 28 days” for this a*hole of a customer…
“sir, where does it say we are running a library for spare parts? exactly, you bought it, you didnt borrow, loan or hire the spare part, notwithstanding it was also a special ORDER”

Hi, Ghandh as well as checking the field coil is the right way round you have to remove the top part of the collar to release the carbons from the holders.
