Hi I have an unusual fault in that on a rinse cycle the machine will try to spin at high speed for a second then stop for 30sec or so and repeat i.e. it is attempting to go to fast with water in. Any thoughts? It had new brushes about 6 months ago

Actually it just seams to flick over and stop each time the motor goes

Check your drain filter is clear and that the machine pumps the water out within 60 seconds or so.

Thanks for the tip, pump/drain is fine. I’ve taken the brushes out and cleaned the armature and
It seams to work now but I have a feeling that won’t be the last of it

Some times the motor will run as normal, others it will just run for half a second then pause till the direction change. Many years ago I used to work for a rental company repairing washers but I don’t remember a fault like this and I can’t think its worth buying a new timer unit to find out if it is that.

    Anyone have any thoughts?

As Martin said I would check draining action first.

With water in machine, choose drain only

How long does it take to completely empty?

You will hear a distinct difference in sound once it is completely empty

A machine that is draining normally will take 15 to 20 seconds

Hi, I thought pump too but it pumps out fine and the fault occurs during the rinse/wash cycles also when water should be in the drum
