ParticipantI attended this machine this morning, the fault was that it was draining but no spin. Turned out that it was worn brushes, I removed the motor, gave a good clean, replace brushes. Refitted motor onto the machine, belted up, etc.
Now the motor won’t start, despite resetting the machine with the motor disconnected also even with it connected to see if it makes any difference.
The reset procedure I carried out was turn the knob to six o’clock position which is Spin program, pressed and held the spin button then turn the knob one click which is the drain program, held for 5 seconds, even 10 seconds after few goes then released the spin button, the timer went from 12 mins to 1 min but this was to respond to the selection of program.
Anyway, despite doing that, it still won’t spin. It drains but no spin. Have I missed out anything? There are no error codes on display.
The machine did end itself if you leave the spin cycle for a while after detecting of non motor action.

Thanks Dave,
I attended to different job this afternoon with exactly the same make and model and fault.
Replaced brushes, cleaned up, tested the motor before refitting. All working fine.
The owner of the machine I attended earlier this week wasn’t very truthful about the machine. He says it came from a friend who had it for a while with no issues. Then his wife says she had it since new.
TBH the machine was in such a poor state. The state of the house give a lot to be desired. Oddly enough the husband is a carpet cleaner and offered to do mine at a discount. Me tempted? Nah.

There’s no reset required on these appliances after btush/motor failure. If , after replacing the brushes the motor fails to start then either the motor is totally goosed or the motor has taken out the control module.

Now and again, not too often, after replacing worn brushes I get no motor action. Usually the built in thermal fuse inside the motor blows. But unfortunately not a replacement part.

I think in my case one in ten Bosch machines have this problem. Pathetic init? I think you need to replace the brushes before it wears out to stop this happening. Maybe it should have a routine brush replacement after 2 or 3 years.
