Bosch WIS24140GB Washing Machine does not always start

I set a new program and press start button, but machine just locks the door and then does nothing further. No noises.

I reset program, sometimes as many as 10 times, without changing anything else, and it starts.

Issue occurs with different programs and different loads.

Once started, the program always finishes successfully.

Have disconnected and reconnected machine from socket.

It is four years old and has only been used once/fortnight on average.
