My WTA2000 Bosch Tumble Dryer will not tumble. With no belt attached the motor will not turn. There is a ‘humming’ noise from somewhere, might be a round electrical piece attached to the motor seating bracket. The motor will spin if I give the spindle a twist, when I switch of the power it stops and will not start again without twisting it again. Red light is live and door switch appears to function.
Your help would be appreciated. Thank you.

The round piece attached to the motor is the “start capacitor” it’s this that kick start the motor in to action… Replace this and you should be up and running again…
Power off when you remove the old one..and take careful note of the way the wires are attached to the terminals…

Make sure you replace with the correct value capacitor for your machine ..

Thank you Muv for your prompt reply. I assume that the ‘start capacitor’ will have its values stamped on it somewhere.

The new capacitor was received today, 8uf as Martin suggested. Re. installation. I notice from the old capacitor that the two brown wires go together and the two yellow also. But there is no indication which pair of terminals they are fixed to, i.e. there is no + or – on both old and new. Does it matter please? Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

The capacitor has dual terminals and have no polarity. Just connect the two brown together on one dual terminal and the yellow on the other. 😀

THANK YOU MARTIN. I have fitted the capacitor and it all works fine. Saved me a packet of cash.
