Don’t worry about the bearing; it’s only a problem if the spider starts to break away from the back of the drum. It’s a Crosslee/White Knight machine, not a Whirlpool. If you used a pattern element, some of them are pretty shoddy. Masterpart do a decent one, or buy the gen Crosslee one to make sure of a decent fit.

The 3 fixing mountings need careful alignment (sit squarely in their recesses) and the top edges tapping down closer to the element. Otherwise the squared edges stick out and scrape against the drum. 😉

Chris, have fitted a service/ whirlpool element from connect part No WPL481925928745 should this be ok, or would it be better to order the crossley you mentioned, if so have you the part No please. John.
also Martin, thanks for your reply. John

look at the element fixing bracket from the side you might see that its not quite 90 degrees you can push it into 90 with a pair of grips. you can if you want lay the element onto the floor and push the top element down slightly near to where it turns into the bracket DO NOT HIT IT WITH A HAMMER.

I have had to stand on the bracket on some pattern ones to get them to fit. Thicker inner element catches drum in area next to bracket. basically push it away from the drum.

Gen Whirlpool heater will be the same as the Crosslee one – just three times as expensive!
