My tumble dryer has developed a fault. When I press the Start button, it starts spinning, but when the button is released, it immediately stops.
The red ‘reset’ button at the back is not out, and the filter has always been cleaned regularly. The are no obstructions in the vent tube.
I’ve taken the top off and the only thing which looks suspicious is the circuit board at the top right front side. Amongst other components, it has a couple of resistors (marked R1 & R2 on the board), and they, and the area of the board immediately behind them, are decidedly brown.
If one or both resistors are fried, would that cause the symptom I’m seeing? If so, what would have caused them to overheat? I.e., if I replace the board or resistors, will the problem simply reoccur since the underlying cause is elsewhere?
One other data point. When this problem first emerged, it was a couple of days before I got round to investigating it and, when I did, the problem had disappeared. The machine worked fine for a couple more days, but then the problem came back.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Kevin.
