The “timer knob” on our Bosch WTA3100 has stopped working.

When you try to move it clockwise to set the time, there is a “click” and the knob turns freely but the timer does not move.

I’ve taken the top off and had a check and the timer shaft between the knob and the timer unit still works – turning this does still set the time.

I figure something has broken inside the knob itself.

Any idea how to remove the front fascia panel so I can try to extract the knob ? – there seem to be multiple clips (some of which I have managed to break) but I can’t find any screws to release the panel as a whole.

I’ve tried taking the door off, but this does not seem to work – I have undone the torx screws but the door hinges seem to be clipped in too, and I have not tried brute force for fear of breaking something.

Or am I missing something obvious ? – Can I just pull the knob off from the front ?

Otherwise the dryer was working perfectly until today.

Remove any screws you can find, then pull from the bottom of the facia panel. It should ease out and pivot from the top clips to give you access. If you go onto http://www.bshcustomerservice.com and follow the links into Bosch Spares then enter the eNr number – WTA3100GB/– (fill in the missing digits) – you can have a look at the drive assembly for the knob and see what’s gone wrong

    Thanks Penguin,

Ok, I’ve managed to get the fascia panel off. The trick was to open the door and gently lever (with a broad screw driver) along the bottom of the fascia panel (there are two recesses – one at either end to help you get started), panel then pops off relatively easily, though in my case I’d already broken most of the clips along the top edge.

On investigation inside the knob there is an inner component with a pair of cams which lock into the back of the knob and allow it to set the timer. – On mine one of the cams was broken and the back of the knob was cracked where the other cam engages – meaning the knob would not latch.

From digging around this is part number 154956 (timer knob inner), and the timer knob is 154957. Any idea how much these would be ?

    Thanks,

    Parts ordered.

Should keep the tumber dryer working for a bit longer.
