ParticipantHi folks
Just been to this today – cust complaing of screech/scrape when opperated. Husband had kindly got m/c down to floor level but when i tried it could only get it to make slight noise which she said was normal.
Thought this could have been rear bearing as there was play at the rear of m/c or a bra wire stuck some where as sounded like the noise she described was drum related BUT this looked like a right pig to get into both the rear bearing and the fan unit.
Looks like you have to access every thing thru the front of m/c as a wrap round casing. The rear bearing looks like it is all in the main heating unit which holds up the rear of the m/c.
Access to refit belt looks a mare. Altho when I have had a look on the Bosch web site at the exploded view it shows jockey pulleys fitted but this one looked like it was a strech fit belt – hence the rear bearing problem.
Has anyone had to fit a rear bearing to one of these?
What bearing bits would I need as the exploding view showing quite a few parts including springs and pins as if it is a reasonable job to do I would rather do it in one visit now.
Are there two versions of this model one with jockey pulleys and one without – sure the one I went to didnt have them fitted as i was feeling for them to see how dificult refitting the belt would be as it fits between the motor and fan and not just on the end of the motor.
Any help, comments or advice welcome on this one.
Thanks
Mick
ps What happened to the days when manifactures used to make things accessable for us poor sevice engineers?

Your version does have jockey pulleys in fact. I haven’t had experience with bearing failure- yet. But access isn’t too bad getting it all apart really, it all comes out of the front and involves snipping cable ties to release the wiring in places around the control panel. Removing fascia, front panel and plastic front drum/filter support gives clear access to the belt and pulling the drum right out.
It’s a case of ‘once you’ve done one’ you’ll find it pretty straightforward. Just note carefully which screws go where and what wires you disconnected. It may just be something caught in there or a squirt of oil needed – hopefully? 😉

Thanks for the reply Martin
At the moment she is using the m/c so depends on whether she wants to risk not been able to use m/c if I strip down to see what parts are needed – you know what these women are like – it’s the end of the world if the tumble dry is out of action for a few days:)
That why thought uit might be worth taking and changing the bearing anyway as there is some play there – the m/c gets used 2-3 times a day!!! :rolls: – Think she muat take in washing for the street 😉
Still convinced there were no jockey pulleys fitted – but could be wrong

ParticipantIf it DOES have the jockey pulleys , these may well be the cause of the squeak/squeal . A squirt of WD40 and a light oiling normally clears the noise.

That one does not have jockey pulleys. although it is shown on the parts exploded, if you were to click on it they are shown as not included in this appliance.
Mick, walk away now! its an absolute b’stard!
beware there is a sprung earthing pin in the the drum shaft that will ping out as soon as its released. make sure you findt it. the bearing itself is a roller type, not usually a problem part….

Thanks Eastlmark….
You just confirmed my suspicions….
Think i might be getting to old for challenges like these Martin – they are no good for my blood pressure and stress levels 😉
Think manifactures shoot themselves in the foot when they design stuff like this – customers buy again, which is what i think they want them to do – but not from them…
Thanks for all the replies folks…
