    Hi Folks

This should have been a straight forward job – landlady phones m/c runs for 6 min then switches off – empty filter light came on – landlady been round filter crammed with fluff – emptied but now no heat – still switches off after 6 min.

Heater TOC me thinks – been round – TOC not opperated – continuity ok through heater & TOC circ – trace wiring back to module and no output from module to heater.

Is there anything else which will stop the module from switchin the heater on on these? Condeser unit wasn’t fitted properly but refitted that thinking that was the problem (like H/Point Creda m/c) – there doesnt look like any other safety switches anywhere – am I missing something or would this be a module fault?

The condenser/fan chamber cover missing from the front bottom of machine but there dosen’t look like any safety switches located around that. Bit difficult to ascess quite what has gone on as tenant Indian and not consistant with answers and is saying the m/c hasn’t worked at all in the six months she has been there ??

Baffling thing is m/c heated slightly after I got it all back together then stopped again (Termistor fault?) – didn’t have time to take module off and inspect as one of THOSE days!

    Any comments/ideas/help appreciated

    Thanks

    Mick

The safety switch is behind the drum front trim in the bottom right hand corner. The latch mechanism that operates it just pokes out where the condenser front plate engages toward the right hand corner.

New front condenser cover plate assembly = 289566

As it’s a sensor dryer testing for heat requires the drum has to have damp clothing inside for the resistance levels to register through the module. Otherwise the heat shuts off within 120 seconds anyway.

    Thanks for the reply Martin

I saw the latch that sticks down and pressed that but couldnt hear a micro switch opperate so what type of switch is it and does that switch just switch off the heating or the whole machine?

Without the cover on it is possible for little hands to experiment with the blower fan when in use and would be quite dangerous to use with unsupervised children about so would have thought it would have cut the whole machine off or at least the motor?

I didnt know about testing with damp clothing in so that might be the problem – i am sure the landlady or tenant wasnt aware of that either so they might have tested without washing in aswell??

Just looked on Connect for the front cover £44 + yikes – is it made of gold – seems a lot for a bit of plastic!!

    Thanks for the help 🙂

If you look on the BSH website you can see the switch and all the parts very clearly so you’ll know what I mean. 😉

Hmmm.. thanks for the reply Martin – been to the BHS web site but lists that lock as a mechanical lock (pt no 154183) if I am looking at the right part so not sure as can’t remember seeing any wires going there.. there again looking at the exploded view the temister is somewhere about there and I cant rember seeing any wires to that either so i could be wrong..

Still not sure as cant see why they would switch just the heat off from there??? – thought it might be a float switch prob but would have thought that would have come up with some indication ??

Think this needs another visit but also need to establish if landlandy willing to fork out for new cover anyway as not prepared to stick my neak on the line and do any repair to this machine unless the cover is fitted after the repair to prevent hands in the fan etc.

    Any other comments welcome 🙂

Re: Bosch WTE6920GB/01 Cond T/Dry – no heat

Sorry Mick but there may be some slight confusion here in that the unit I refer to is a safety latch mechanism (mechanical) and is meant to prevent the door from closing whilst the condenser panel is down, that’s all. I can only think someone must have jammed that mechanism to allow the dryer to operate without that panel in place?

Aside from that and back to your problem of no heat. Electrically there is just a overheat t/stat unit on the heater box with a resettable TOC and an NTC probe sensor in the front duct just under the fluff filter that sensors the exhaust temp via the module (not sure right now of the ohm values of that for testing purposes? – sorry)

The 2 carbon brush contacts to the drum are the most likely source of dryer heat probs, after the first 120 secs I mentioned earlier. So if whilst testing from first start that the heater fires up, chances are it’s a sensor/brush pickup problem…..????

    Thanks Martin

Just waiting for landlady to get back to me after I mentioned that I wasn’t willing to pursue this any further unless she was prepaired to have the cover replaced as part of the repair. I did point out the liabilities from my point and also pointed out hers to.

Interesting about the mech lock stoping the door from closing – didn’t know that either – never stop learing on this job 🙂

Thanks for the info – much appreciated
