ParticipantHi guys,
Wonder if anybody can answer my question.
Why would the drying light and the end light be flashing at the same time and switch off the dryer after a couple of minutes ?I have done quite a lot of drying today (kids back from a week away with 2 suitcases of dirty clothes). Could it be because the load is too heavy or the dryer has been on for a couple of runs and is overheating?
I have turned the selector knob to off, waited a few minutes and restarted the cycle but it continues to play games tonight. It’s a fairly new machine bought in May.

I did at one stage phone for an engineer to come take a look but was put off by the girl telling me that ,if no fault was found, I would be liable to pay for the call out. I thought about for a few days and then, as it seemed to be OK, I phoned to cancel.
In my troubleshooting guide it doesn’t actually tell you what these lights flashing together means. Also I have noticed a sort of buzzing /vibration noise coming from the grille area at the bottom with each rotation of the drum.
That’s why I thought I would pick your brains first before taking the next step which is to get it checked out under the warranty.

ParticipantDrying/end led flashing together means that there is no heat being generated and so the sensor is shutting the appliance down due to no heat .
The most likely cause is the overheat stat popping open circuit –
Have you…..
a – Opened the door during a drying cycle without stopping the cycle first ?
b – Let the fluff in the door filter build up to such a state that it has blocked the air channels , causing an overheat condition ?
c – checked the the vent hose to make sure it’s nice and clear and not kinked/blocked in anyway ?
Any of the above 3 situations could pop the overheat stat .
It could also be a heater element fault but is unlikely on a model so new.

Hello NomadPaul and thanks for reply.
I have to answer No to all those three. This morning the dryer worked perfectly again. The problems were yesterday after doing two Extra Dry loads for however long the cycle takes. The third load was a load too far. I put the washing in, shut the door, turned the knob to Extra Dry, the dryer started then after a couple of minutes the drying and end lights flashed together and the dryer stopped. I tried again but the same thing happened.
So you see why I was a little reluctant to get an engineer out if he came and couldn’t see it misbehaving
