Hi all,
Looking to buy my first washing machine! We live in a flat with no garden and no where to put up a line, and don’t really have the space for separate units, so are looking to get a washer dryer!
After doing my research, it seems as though the best in the mid end market is Bosch/Siemens.
I can get the Bosch WVD24520GB for £399 and the Siemens WD12D520GB for £439, but can’t decide which! They both look the same, aside from the different control layouts, and appear to have the same functions, but are they the same machine?
Any help appreciated 🙂

They are both Spanish-built washer dryers and are basically the same machine. You might like to consider the WVT1260GB – same 1200 spin but a slightly lower price point.

I thought someone said that all current BSH washer dryers are Smeg produced machines. 😕

Can find the WVT1260GB for £379.
Any real difference aside from the larger screen/less buttons on the WVD24520GB? Unless the 1260 is available cheaper, I don’t mind paying the extra £20 for the 2450 🙂I’m sure I read that the Siemens models have 5 year parts warranty as standard, or am I wrong?

IIRC some Siemens do ALL Bosch and Neff have 2 years.

If this one has a 5 year parts warranty, it may sway my decision!
If its 2 like the Bosch, then I’ll just get that one as they appear to be identical in other respects except the fascia 🙂

Much as I’d prefer to get separates, there just isn’t the room 🙁 I know the combi’s aren’t as good performing as dryers, but anything is better than drip drying at the moment!
If the washer can get enough water out of the garments, I could get away with just getting a clothes rack for drying…
Is there any reason at all to get the Siemens over the Bosch? I’d prefer silver to be honest, but its almost £100 more, and I’d have to do the same with the cooker and fridge freezer, which would be a nightmare!

Simple answer? No!
As pointed out earlier, they are both the same construct, so beyond a few possible programme options, there’s no advantage to the Siemens.
Silver…….. This business is called “Whitegoods” for a reason 😀 . It’s purely down to taste – this is your first appliance, so I’m sure that you will have better things to spend £100 on.

Hi LFW,
If you’re on Anglesey you may be advised to give Deltec Electrical a shout who are based in Benllech as you can’t beat local service and, they will actually care if you do have a problem. 😉
If you speak to Sean or Julie there they will give you good advice on what’s stocked locally.
The only reason I mention it is that, as I’m sure you know only too well, service in outlying areas can be a bit ropey at times.
