Bosch WVD24520GB program pausing and changing

We have an odd recurring intermittent problem with our Bosch WVD24520GB washer dryer. Quite frequently, about 20ish minutes into a washing program, the machine stops with the red light on the Start/Pause button flashing (as if someone had paused the cycle). Although most programmes we use are shorter, when this happens, the time remaining always shows as 50 minutes, but the progress bar is empty. The cycle can be restarted by pressing the Start/Pause button (but goes on for another 50 minutes) or by selecting “Off” then “Superquick” which finishes things in 15 minutes. There is never an error code. Any ideas?

Having done a little more research (or rather, playing around), I now realise that mid program (we normally use the “Cottons” or “Mixed Load” settings), the machine seems to be jumping to the start of a different program (the Easy-Care setting) and is waiting for “Start” to be pressed – but why?
