ParticipantWhen the machine is on the F (Spin) position it spins at 600rpm okay. but after a minute or 2 when starts to increase to 1000 rpm the mains breaker trips out the supply!
If the 600 switch is selected the machine does not trip the breaker!
Any thoughts?

It sounds like a motor related problem to me.
It could be something as simple as carbon dust causing it or at worse the armature breaking down on high speed.
It may sound daft but just before it spins, turn the lights off and put your head near the floor, see if you can see any sparking going on under the machine.

could be a wiring harness fault just check the wiring around the motor block as they may be chaffing or shorting as the machine will move a bit more as it speeds up………just a maybe !

ParticipantMost likely motor brushes worn down – I suspect this what Dave is gettihg at with the Lights Out bit!
BTW Paul, if it is the brushes you’ll hear them as
it ramps up to high spin – a sort of crackling, roaring noise.Regards,

Indeed it was. Not knowing peoples level of confidence or competence, it’s an easy (ish) way to check for brush wear.

There’s no apparent sparking coming from the motor.
Also, the breaker doesn’t trip when there is no washing in the machine!I changed the brushes about a year ago but will check them and look at the wiring harness.
Thanks for your suggestions

Paul Sound like wiring check where wiring is held by ties at points of contact with metal.
Good luck. -
