If I can briefly describe the problem with my machine…
The missus phones me at work to say that the door on the washing machine will not open even after the two minutes or so from switching off. She cannot get the washing out.
When I get home, sure enough the door is locked shut. I try setting the program dial around and park it at the end of cycle position before switching off and waiting….(several times) nothing happens. The door is not gonna open.
(I note that the motor briefly kicks in when wafer switch is at required positions).Right, I think, the interlock must have gone for a burton…
I switch off the mains and take off the top cover. Can’t get to the interlock screws because they’re behind the door…mmmm. So I have to destroy the door catch by gently levering it away (good job it’s plastic).
I now take off the interlock noting the three wires as brown, white and orange.
I order the new door catch and interlock from my friendly local parts supplier and pick them up a few days later. Apparently the interlock has been superceded by another part. It looks similar except the connection poles are closer together.
The old locks poles are labelled 2C, 1N and 3L and the new ones are labelled 1, 3, 2 and 4 (4 has no pole connector).
Upon fitting the new parts to the machine the drum motor now appears not to function and the program motor doesn’t seem to work.
What are the correct locations for the wires, or am I barking up the wrong tree. How can I test these stupid parts?
I hope it’s not the programmer! 🙁

Part for interlock is 069639 and has not been superseded and will definately sort the problem out.
As always un-plug before attempting any repair :plug:Greg

Thanks for the reply Greg.
I’ve just had a look at the packets these parts came in:
Door Interlock 069639 (JUST LIKE YOU SAID)
Door Catch 069637 (This ones got a metal hook, more robust)Wish I knew the correct colour wiring set-up, can the interlock be damaged by connecting it the wrong way?

The old locks poles are labelled 2C, 1N and 3L and the new ones are labelled 1, 3, 2 and 4 (4 has no pole connector).
2C becomes 2
1N becomes 1
3L becomes 3
Don’t forget to fit insulating shroud to middle connector!!!

I’ve finally got the motors to work properly by wiring the interlock in various ways until the machine worked properly.
The configuration that seems to work, in case someone finds it useful, is as follows:
Pole 2 —- Orange (Wire from circular diaphragm looking device)
Pole 3 —- Brown (Wire from main live feed)
Pole 1 —- White (Wire from programmer/wafer switch assy)Having shut the door to test the operation I am now back where I started in the first place.
The machine appears to operate but the door cannot be released ! 👿1)What else influences the door operation?
2)What is that circular diaphragm looking device, some sort of contactor?

There is no other influence to keep door locked, only the 2 mins after power down.
Only problem Ive ever had is the interlock bowden travel jamming and changing interlock sorts that.
Check that bowden is correctly located in both lock and button mechanisms. Power off of course :plug:If after checking all that I think you have reached the end of basic repair and would recommend conatcting repairs@ for your nearest engineer.
