    Hi

    I have a Bosch Washer Dryer (WVT1260GB/01; FD8508).

Today I put some clothes in to dry, turned it on, set the programme and press start. Shortlay after starting I heard an awful rattling/grating noise. The noise went away after a few moments so I didn’t pay it any further attention.

Later on, my wife came in and noticed that the drum had stopped spinning (the digital display indicated error F04) and the machine was silent.

We’ve had stuff gather in the pump before and I’ve removed the offending items (by partially unscrewing the pump cap, fully draining, and then fully removing the pump cap)

This time, for the life of me, the pump cap just won’t unscrew fully. It turns about half way round before it jams. Water does trickle out – though I’ve got a long way to go to drain the whole drum. I think that whatever made the grating noise at the start is stopping the pump impeller from working and has somehow lodged itself against the pump cap preventing me from turning it. Goodness knows what it is.

I’ve tried turning the machine on and off on the basis that perhaps by turning the cap a little further (I have to really give it some welly to budge even slightly), whatever is causing the blockage may have shifted sufficiently for the pump to turn the impeller and nudge it out of the way. No such luck – after a period of silence, I hear a slight humming – presumably the machine is trying to tun the pump. I don’t want to burn the motor out, so I’ve given up doing that.

Any ideas how I can fix this? Is there a way of removing the blockage from the other side i.e. from inside the machine (having drained the machine first)? Or is there some trick I can use to get the pump cap to turn?

    Thanks in advance.

They only thing you can do is to drain out all of the water, remove the pump complete and then open it up to get the obstruction out.

Then you need to train the operator in the art of checking pockets. 😉
