    Good evening
I am trying to fault find a oven that is overheating/burning food.I suspect main oven thermostat. It does “click” and the thermostat LED icon comes on and off
when I turn dial .That said what ohms reading would I expect to get when it is turned on If (a): faulty(apart from OL or >999 or (b) in satisfactory condition.I appreciate these figures may vary according to specific makes.Thank you in advance.

P.s I have checked other components e.g main fan ,cooling fan, element other stats which all seem o.k

    Hi Dave

Thank you for replying to this post full E-Nr:HBA13B250B/01.It is capillary type thermostat.I have a little knowledge on oil boilers where you have similar limit/control stats. You would test these with digital heatguns or proprietary tester e.g KBB test unit, neither of which i possess. The stat is working,so I was hoping I could compare my ohms reading against a known parameter.I cannot find such information online.

    Thank you again

    Hi Angus

a capilliary thermostat is only a temperature operated switch. it has only 2 states, on and off

i assume if the stat is in the off position the led light as you call it is off and you get no heat
when you set it at the lowest setting say 50 or 80 degrees does it fail to turn off or just overheat

anyway from what i can see you may just have a failed stat, part no 00423976
