ParticipantJust developed a problem on this mornings wash
The machine was about half way through its wash cycle on a fast spin when it suddenly became more noisier and a small amount of smoke appeared rising from the top of the machine which disappeared after a short while. The machine continued to work if noisier and then I noticed water on the kitchen floor. The wash completed but am wondering what problem may have developed?
Can you help?Many thanks
Mick

Check the drum for movement. The noise, the water, and the smoke, could indicate bearing or drum-support failure

Hi
Many thanks for your reply
Further investigation reveal the drum bearings appear OK with free and noiseless movement and that the water leak appears to be coming from the thermal switch/sensor for the immersion heater attached to the drum…..can you advise if this a known problem? can it be resealed/repairedJuly 28, 2014 at 5:57 pm #417202Allsorts

Make sure the heater is fully inserted, likewise with the sensor, then tighten the nut in the center… not too tight, but tight enough to cause a seal.
It may be wise if the heater has displaced itself to ensure that there was no internal cause, ie a sock or similar engaged in the heater loops…

Hi
Tried all the suggestions with no joy…..
Further investigation after removing the concrete bock and filling the drum with water has revealed that the leak is coming from several small holes/fractures in the moulding of the plastic outer tub…..Your comments please and can you advise a suitable repair/sealantRegards
Mick

Sounds like a coin or something similar had caused the damage, would probably need the tub replacing
