ParticipantI have just bought a nearly new B&Q own brand Blyss WAP-020EC air conditioner. The problem is that it didn’t come with instructions and I can’t seem to find any on the internet.
I have two questions:
1. The cold air outlet is covered by a flap which is really hard to open manually to let the cold air out. It is as if it is motorised or has some trick to release it and let you move it. I am really worried I will break it just pulling at it. Does anyone have a copy of the manual or know if there is a trick to opening the flap, or is it normally very stiff?
2. For a portable air conditioner I was expecting there would be a container to catch the condensation which I could pull out and take to the sink, but there just appears to be a drain plug which means I have to drain it into something. Is that normal for portable air conditioners?
Thanks in advance for any help.

People always open boxes in store and take bits out. I bet someone took the user instruction booklet.
Did you not read the on-line reviews before you bought it? Especially those less than chuffed about having to poke the exhaust hose through an open window. 😕
As summer is drawing to a close you might want to take it back for a full refund?….. Just saying 😉

I actually called B&Q after looking online and before posting here. B&Q tell me they don’t keep copies of manuals for products they have made for them, so they can’t give me a copy and their only suggested is to search the internet!
I am aware of how the unit works. I am using it to keep a room cool which I have a number of PCs running in. I already have a duct because I had an extractor fan, just the fan didn’t keep the heat down enough, so I want to use this unit instead. I just don’t want to break a perfectly good piece of kit by pushing and pulling at bits the wrong way because I didn’t read the manual!

No, I bought the unit nearly new but second hand. It says on the back it was manufactured in 2011. They have a newer version they are selling now, but the way the air outlet is designed and works is completely different.

ok, thanks. To be honest its not rocket science to use it. My only question was that there is a small rubber bung at the bottom which I assume must trap some water, maybe from the condenser. This isn’t the dehumidifier pipe. Just trying to find out how often this should be checked!
thanks again
