I have a problem with a cooker hood B&Q brand. Not much information on the unit except CNA Trading Appliances GCHEP60SS.

The problem is that the motor is not working, all the lights are working and also the power indicator light.

Is there a common problem why the motors on these hoods fail? I notice that the motor is fitted with a capacitor, would this part be the number one suspect for a non working motor?

It looks like the installation was fitted without the charcoal filters. So there is a possibility that the motor internals are all greased up, hope to strip the motor down over the weekend.

Would excessive grease cause the motor to fail? and if so what’s the best method of cleaning the grease from the motor internals?

It was the motor at fault. However, I am not happy with the replacement motor, it’s noisy and makes a scraping noise. Checking the end float in the motor it does seem excessive (see video) any comments if I should return the motor for a replacement?
