B&Q Dishwasher, Model DW009 – HELP!!!

Hi

Can anyone help?? We’ve recently taken delivery of our new fully integrated dishwasher. We unpacked it yesterday to give it the once over before new kitchen is installed and so far I’m far from impressed!!

The tension adjustment of the door spring is lethal!!! We’ve (well hubby actually!) adjusted the door spring tension, but the door is still so tightly spring loaded, you have to hold it down with one hand, whilst you load it with the other, then stand well clear when you close it, or it’ll take your hand off, its ridiculous! OK, it doesn’t have the outer door on yet, so that will help with some of the weight, but it’s still not going to be enough to keep it open!

Is there anything we’ve overlooked?? Can anyone help?

Hi Hayley,

All integrated dishwashers are like that until the outer furniture door is fitted, it needs the weight to counter balance the door.

Still have problems! The weight of the door still isn’t enough to hold the door down. The tension adjusters are as loose as possible….is there anything else we aren’t doing??

Nope that should be enough to hold the door down unless the furniture door is too light. The dishwasher installation instructions should give you the minimum and maximum permissable door weights.

I have on occasion over the years seen this problem where the furniture doors are exceptionally lightweight, and a satisfactory cure i’ve also seen is to bond a piece of roofer’s lead sheet into the recess in the back of said cabinet door 😉
