ParticipantI’ve a brand new Bosch WAS28461GB Logixx 8 that leaks from the soap draw (from both underneath and from the handle). It only seems to do this on 60 and 90 degree washes.
I’ve called Bosch twice. The first response… “was the draw closed?”. Er, YES. The second time I was advised to turn the inlet tap off a little to lower the water pressure. Didn’t work, but in any case the installation manual says to have an inlet pressure of 1-10bar. My water pressure is 2.5bar.
The machine is levelled correctly. I cannot see any blockages (if I open the draw a little during fills, all 3 sections of the draw fill freely.
I can only assume its condensation from the hot washes. The entire underside of the draw if you remove it is wet/dripping. On 90deg washes especially, the handle area of the draw is normally very wet when you put your hand inside.
I can’t help but feel this is a design flaw – and that the handle should be sealed from the inside of the draw (not just an open cut out) and a rubber seal around the draw edge too.
Is this “normal”? For a £500 machine, it doesn’t seem normal or right to me. But if it’s a common thing I don’t want to go through the hassle of returning it and getting another machine only to have the same problem. My 10yr old Bosch this replaced never did this.
thanks

Whilst I do not know the answer to your question I do know that all soap drawers have ‘cut outs’ and are not sealed for the simple reason that most washing machines ( not washer dryers) ‘vent’ through the soap drawer.
As the water fills in you need somewhere for the displaced air to escape to allow the pressure switch ( water level switch ) to operate correctly, that is why the drawers are not sealed.
Leaks from soap drawers can and do affect most makes from time to time, some of it down to poor design but often due to very high water pressures as well.
Not cleaning the drawer and compartment at regular intervals can also cause a leak but as yours is new its unlikely to be that.Hopefully one of the lads who specialise on these machines may have a definitive answer for you.

Not normal no, of course not. 2.5bar is quite a strong flow of water and no mistake so the engineers suggestion of restricting the flow by turning the stop cock slightly off is a good idea. The indication that the handle gets wet is for me a dead giveaway that one of two things can cause this…1) Filling too fast and splashing? (cure = turn the wick down slightly.) or 2) The liquid detergent gate is in position whilst you’re using powder? (you’ll be surprised at the instances where folks have overlooked this. :D)
HTH?

Are you using powder , liquid or tablets ? I have had a couple of instances recently where a customer has used a tablet that has slipped out of the drawer without fully dissolving and got trapped in the top of the fill hose , thus causing the water to overflow from the drawer front . I’ve also just had a customer put in a calgon tablet….without removing the wrapper !!! Have you removed the detergent drawer completely and checked the top of the fill hose for a blockage ? You can see the hose in the front left corner in the drawer area .
