I have an unused Neff S54M45X1GB/10 dishwasher.

It’s a long story, but this was put in a few years ago and today I tried to use it for the first time!

I set it for soft water and have not put any salt or detergent in.

I set it for a 25 min wash.

All seemed ok until 22 mins later, water started to leak from the front door.

The drain pump works fine, there are no blockages.

Upon opening the door, I found it was full of water – hence the leak.

I lifted the float and the pump operated and drained the water.

So if I assume the float is not floating for some reason, although it is free to move.

So, is the machine trying to regenerate, despite setting it to soft water, with no salt and is this causing an issue?

As I mentioned the machine is unused and I have checked it for any damage or corrosion.

Is there an easy way to get at the float?

    Cheers!

A bit of googling found that these symptoms are due to a duff flow meter (impeller jug?). The machine doesn’t know how much water has come in.

Closer inspection of this revealed a piece of plastic jammed inside the flow meter, so problem solved!

There’s a youtube video showing replacement of the flow meter and I was able to fish out the bit of plastic with some wire. Once clear the impeller in the flow meter should spin fast and whistle (like a party blower!) when you blow down it.
