    Hi

I bought a new Siemens KG39NA90GB Fridge Freezer from John Lewis and it was delivered on Thursday. I turned it on last night and it started making this sound after about 20 minutes:

It sounds like a pencil being pushed into a fan (really loud) and stops when the door is opened and resumes when it is closed. I have spoken to John Lewis and they have arranged for an engineer to call out on Monday morning.

Has anyone got any idea what the problem might be?

I wonder whether I ought to just reject the fridge / freezer but I guess it could take until the middle of next week to get a new one delivered. What ever happened to quality checks!

    thanks in advance

Probably the evaporator fan has been dislodged in transit, although that would usually be sounding from the off 😕

Its your call really, maybe a service call from Bosch would sort you the quickest imho 😀

    Hi

Yes it is your evaperator fan blade hitting the insulation which would start after the evaperator reached -5 oc and turn off when you opened the door.

It will require the engineer to visit to either refit or replace dependent on what he finds,to reduce the damage to the internal insulation and the possibility of the fan blade breaking it would be advisable to turn the appliance off till repaired.

    thanks for the advice guys.

yes I have it turned off, its too noisey to leave on and I didn’t want to cause any more damage.

I think you are right, its probably going to be quicker to get the engineer to look at it on Monday. If I made a fuss and asked for a new one it would probably be a week.

I’ll post back to say what the outcome is.

    😀
