Hi, I have brought a brand new Zanussi washing machine. I removed all of the packaging and opened the door to find the instruction manual was damp. I then discovered water inside the drum, around the rubber, inside the pipes and in the drawer. Is this normal for a new machine? Has it been water tested at the factory? I don’t recall this happening with my previous washing machines.

Yes this is normal. As far as I’m aware all washers are water tested in the factory.

Not all Barrie. Only some but it can be normal.

Most manufacturers will batch test, in that one or a few are tested from a batch with the assumption being that if that one or few are okay, then they all are.

Only Asko/ISE and Miele to my knowledge test every one now and they are given a full test of all functions before they leave.

All used to be tested but it’s rare now due to cost cutting, it costs time and therefore money to test every one.

On the positive, it should be okay if it’s been tested.

    K.

Thanks for your replies. Half suspected that and the other half was worried I’d been sent a second hand machine!
